A Message from the President

Heather teRiele

SUNYCAP President

Greetings, Friends!

Wow, what a crazy several months it has been. Personally, I took my first online graduate class through Stony Brook (an intense 9 weeks, very different than being in an actual class room), was on the core committee for SUNY Potsdam’s Relay for Life, and involved with other various boards and organizations; along with being a first-time mom AND everything that the spring season brings to the admissions office. I cannot wait for summer!

With my life being this crazy, I can only imagine how crazy your life is and I would like to say, good job! Good job for keeping it all together, good job for showing up and good job for helping to change a student’s life! That is what it is all about for us in admissions and sometimes with the day to day tasks; we lose sight of it all. How great is it to talk to students about their future? Isn’t that why we got in to admissions?

I know personally, I love learning about the experiences that these young people are having and their enthusiasm for what lies ahead. As yield season draws to an end, remember why you got into admissions and that this is supposed to be fun! Plus, SUNYCAP is right around the corner, and what a great way to relax, re-energize, and reconnect. I wish you all the best as May 1st approaches and I look forward to what June 1st will bring!
