Brief Job Description

This position is based at Buffalo State and recruits in the NYC Metro area:

Coordinates and hosts information sessions and other recruitment programs to increase awareness and affinity to Buffalo State College in the NYC and downstate area;

Builds positive relationships and provides information to students, parents, school counselors and community-based organizations, both on and off-campus, concerning all aspects of the college;

Interview prospective students; review and follow-up with a high volume of applicants; triage e-mail inquiries; and conduct group information sessions (including some Saturdays). Recruit in an assigned territory, as well as during on campus activities;

Establish and maintain partnerships with campus based and externally based college access programs including CACNY.


Required Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree; demonstrated experience in college admissions, or related area within higher education; valid driver’s license; ability to travel overnight, and work evening and weekends; up to ten (10) weeks of recruitment-related travel per semester in the Metro NY area. Outstanding written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills; strong organizational and time management skills with exceptional attention to detail.

Preferred Qualifications

Master’s degree; Progressive demonstrated recruiting experience in a metropolitan, highly diverse region; bi-lingual Spanish speaking; experience coordinating recruitment events; experience evaluating applicants for general and opportunity program admissions
